A Quizgecko alternative

Both products generate quizzes from content you provide. Rather than assert which is better, this page sets out what Ace the Test does and where its limits are, so you can decide in a couple of minutes.

What Ace the Test does

  1. Upload files or paste text

PDF, images, plain text, Markdown or CSV. No URL import and no video import.

  2. Generate and sit the set

5 to 50 multiple-choice and true/false items with explanations, scored, with elapsed time recorded.

  3. Study across devices

The same account works on the web and in the native iOS app, sharing materials and history.

Scope, stated honestly

Ace the Test takes uploaded files and text. It does not import from a URL, it does not transcribe video or audio, and it does not export a quiz to LMS formats. If any of those are essential to your workflow, that is a real reason to look elsewhere.

What it does have is an explanation on every question, a deliberate distractor design, per-session accuracy tracking, an eight-language interface with questions generated in the language of your source, and a native iOS app sharing the same account and data.

The comparison worth running is the same as on any tool in this category: same document, same question count, both tools, then read the wrong options. Distractor quality is where these products actually differ, and it is invisible on a feature list.

No claims about Quizgecko's current features or prices are made here — see their site for those.

Questions people ask

Can I generate a quiz from a URL or a YouTube video?

No. Uploads and pasted text only. If URL or video input is central to how you work, this will frustrate you.

Can I export a generated quiz?

Quiz sets live in your account and are taken in the app. There is no LMS or document export.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes — a native iOS app that shares the same account, materials and history as the web app.
